Salzburg)<BR><BR>Auffallend viele zeitgenössische KünstlerInnen
beschäftigen sich in ihren Arbeiten mit der ersten Moderne. Die Palette
der künstlerischen Strategien reicht dabei von der formalen Kritik über
kontextuelle Transformationen oder den ironischen Kommentar, bis hin zum
Samplen, Collagieren und Zitieren. Die künstlerischen Entwicklungen der
ersten Moderne waren heterogen und sind keineswegs unikausal und
geradlinig verlaufen. Ebenso vielfältig wie unterschiedlich sind demnach
auch die gegenwärtigen künstlerischen Untersuchungen zu den verschiedenen
Aspekte dieser Epoche.<BR><BR>Im Rahmen des Projektes wird kritisch und
analytisch der Frage nachgegangen, ob es sich bei dieser zeitgenössischen
Tendenz um Restauration oder einen Neustart handelt, ob Nostalgie und
Epigonentum gefeiert werden oder die Überwindung der Postmoderne ernsthaft
in Angriff genommen wird. Handelt es sich um die Fortsetzung des
"unvollendeten Projektes Moderne" oder nur um eine kurzfristige
Modeerscheinung?<BR><BR><IMG

<P><SPAN class=english>Notably many contemporary artists and musicians
deal with the first modernism in their works. Here, the range of artistic
strategies reaches from the formal critique over contextual
transformations and the ironic comment to sampling, collage and citing.
The artistic developments of the first modernism were heterogeneous and
have by no means taken place in a unicausal and straight way. As manifold
as different are consequently also the current artistic analysis regarding
the different aspects of this epoch.</SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN class=english>In the frame of the project, the question whether
this contemporary trend shall be characterized as restoration or as new
beginning, whether nostalgia, retro-chic and epigonizing is celebrated or
the overcoming of the eclecticistic postmodernism seriously is tackled, is
dealt with in a critical and analytical way. Is it perhaps even about the
organic continuation of the "incomplete project of the modernism" or yet
only about a short-term, partial fashion?</SPAN><BR><SPAN
