In der Ausstellung "Der Knochen der Zunge", einem Kooperationsprojekt
des Kunstverein MEDIENTURM mit der DIAGONALE, wird im Rahmen des diesjährigen
Festivalschwerpunkts "Fokus: Türkei" ausschließlich
türkische Gegenwartskunst gezeigt. Eine türkische Redewendung
lautet “die Zunge hat keinen Knochen” und verweist referenziell
auf Redefreiheit. Diese konnotative Polysemie ist zugleich der Titel der
Ausstellung und der resolute Hinweis auf die unterschiedlichen künstlerischen
Ansätze - und bleibt je nach Standpunkt frei interpretierbar.<br>
Die Heterogenität der türkischen Gegenwartskunst wird anhand
spezieller Positionen als solche zugelassen. Auffällig dabei ist
die Fülle an Arbeiten die aktuelle soziale und politische Problemfelder
wie Migration, Geschlechts-identifikation und Rollenverhalten, subkulturelle
Phänomene, etc. thematisieren.<br>

Fatih Aydogdu über das auf kulturellen und sprachlichen Zeichen basierende
Konzept der Ausstellung: "Eine Kunstpraxis, die mit eigenen Kriterien
und Rahmenbedingungen operiert, ist nicht unbedingt an bleibenden (musealen)
Werten interessiert, aber durchaus an einer eigenen Ästhetik der
Kommunikation. Die konnotative Ebene des Visuellen, seine kontextuelle
Referenz und Positionierung in verschiedenen diskursiven Bedeutungs- und
Assoziationsfeldern, bezeichnet den Punkt, an dem sich bereits kodierte
Zeichen mit den Tiefen der semantischen Codes einer Kultur kreuzen und
zusätzliche, aktivere Dimensionen annehmen. Daher müssen die
Zeichen sich mittels der Codes auf die Ordnungen des gesellschaftlichen
Lebens beziehen, auf die ökonomische, politische Macht und auf die
Ideologie, um sie lesbar zu machen."<br>

The exhibition "The Bone of the Tongue", which is a co-operation
project of the Kunstverein MEDIENTURM with the DIAGONALE shows, in the
frame of this year's festival´s "focus: Turkey", exclusively
Turkish contemporary art. A Turkish idiom runs: "the tongue has no
bone" and relates referentially to the freedom of speech. This connotation-related
ambiquity at the same time is the title of the exhibition and the determined
hint at the different works - and remains free in interpretation depending
on the viewpoint.<br>
The heterogenity of Turkish contemporary art is allowed as such by means
of special positions. It is in this context striking that a wealth of
works pick out as a central theme the current social and political conflict
areas such as migration, gender identification and role behaviour, subcultural
phenomena etc.</span></p>
<p><span class="english">Fatih Aydogdu about the semantic concept of the
exhibition: "An art practice which operates by means of proper criteria
and frame conditions, does not necessarily establish lasting (museal)
merits, but definitely creates a proper aesthetics of communication. The
connotation-related level of the visual, its contextual reference and
positioning in different discursive meaning - and association areas, defines
the point where already coded signs meet the depth of semantic codes of
a culture and adopt additional more active dimensions. Thus, the signs
have to relate by means of codes to the order of the social life, to the
economic-, political power and the ideology in order to make them readable."</span><br>
