Ob unbeständige Installationen aus Staubpartikel oder prekäre Eisskulpturen wie abspielbare Schallplatten aus gefrorenem Wasser, die Arbeiten neigen zur Verflüchtigung ohne Wiederkehr. Sie handeln von Verschiebung und Unterwanderung von Normalsituationen, etwa im Falle der in der Ausstellung gezeigten gestrickten (Re-)Konstruktion von Ersatzteilen eines Lastwagens und einer raumfüllenden Wandzeichnung. Motor ihrer künstlerischen Unternehmungen ist die Nichtakzeptanz des Gegebenen, die Vergänglichkeit der Zeit dabei das wesentlichste Element. Und gleichzeitig ist sämtliches Wissen um äußere Determinanten, Bedingungen und Praxen Teil ihrer künstlerischen Produktion.<BR><BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" ><a href="http://www.km-k.at/de/exhibition/claudia-marzendorfer/text/">Langtext Claudia Märzendorfer</a><BR><BR>--<BR><BR>Der Architekt und Künstler </SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;font-weight: bold;text-decoration:underline;" >E.d Gfrerer</SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" > (*1958 in Paternion, lebt in Graz) geht in den für seine Ausstellung getätigten räumlichen Untersuchungen vom konkreten Raum aus, d.h. er ist selbst vor Ort aktiv. Bereits Wochen vor der Eröffnung schafft er sich zu allererst im Gebäude eine Bauhütte, in der er Einbauten und Display-Eingriffe vergangener Ausstellungen beobachtet, um im Anschluss mittels skizzenhaften Zeichnungen mögliche Zu- und Eingriffe für die eigene Ausstellung zu testen und so letztlich durch Erweiterung oder Verdichtung von Zwischenräumen zu intervenieren. Gfrerer setzt dabei vor allem auf die im Haus vorgefundenen Ergänzungen der Ausstellungsarchitek-<BR>tur wie Gipskartonwände und Bühnenkonstruktionen, mit welchen er fragile temporäre Konstruktionen sowie lose skulpturale Ausformungen entwickelt. Ohne Bohrungen vorzunehmen montiert er diese so, dass sie dem Ausstellungsort einen neuen Denkraum zuordnen. Durch die präzise Bearbeitung des Vorhandenen, seiner räumlichen Re-Konstruktion und dem freien Umgang mit den Raumachsen stellt der Künstler ein oftmals tradiertes Selbstverständnis in der Nutzung von Ressourcen infrage. Her works of art—whether volatile installations made of dust particles or precarious ice sculptures like playable LPs fashioned from frozen water—tend toward the ephemeral and non-recurring. They’re about shifting and subverting normal situations, as is the case with the knitted (re)construction of truck replacement parts and a three-dimensional wall drawing. Driving her artistic undertakings is the non-acceptance of given circumstances, the temporal nature of time being the most essential element. At the same time, a wealth of knowledge about external determinants, conditions, and practices is part of her process of producing art.<BR><BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" ><a href="http://www.km-k.at/en/exhibition/claudia-marzendorfer/text/">Long version Claudia Märzendorfer</a><BR><BR>--<BR><BR>For his exhibition, the architect and artist </SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;font-weight: bold;text-decoration:underline;" >E.d Gfrerer</SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" > (*1958 in Paternion, Austria; lives in Graz) begins with the specific space when he engages in his investigations of space—meaning, that he himself is active on site. Weeks before the opening, he first sets up a kind of shed for himself inside the building. Here, he observes the fixtures and displays from past exhibitions and then does some sketches to test possible ways of approaching his own show, ultimately intervening by expanding or condensing intermediate spaces. In the process he primarily relies upon the additions to the exhibition architecture already in the building, such as plasterboard walls and stage risers, which he uses to develop fragile, temporary structures and loosely sculptural shapes. Without doing any drilling, he mounts these items so that they make visitors think of the space differently. By working meticulously with what is at hand, his re-constructions of space and open way of dealing with the spatial axes allows the artist to question the often traditional understanding of how to use resources.
