Mit viel Drama, aber auch Humor, Science Fiction und Horror setzt Gilligan damit die Stilbreite des heutigen Kino- und Fernsehfilms künstlerisch um. Die Künstlerin stellt die ökonomischen Bedingungen etwa dem Prozess der Subjektivierung, dem individuellen Körper, den Affekten und den Arbeitsanforderungen des neuen Kapitalismus gegenüber. Die Ausstellung präsentiert eine Auswahl aus Gilligans Videoserie „The Common Sense“ (2013-15) sowie eine Premiere des Videos „Substitution“ (2014), das gemeinsam mit der Künstlergruppe Wooloo entstand. <BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;font-weight: bold;text-decoration:underline;" ><BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;font-weight: bold;text-decoration:underline;" ><a href="http://www.km-k.at/de/exhibition/melanie-gilligan/text/">LANGVERSION MELANIE GILLIGAN</a></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" ><BR><BR><BR>Wie lässt sich das abwesende Werk darstellen? Diese Frage könnte am Beginn der Ausstellung „VOL. 19“ stehen, in der </SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;font-weight: bold;text-decoration:underline;" >Klaus Scherübel</SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" > (*1968 in Bruck/Mur, lebt in Montreal) eine Serie von raumgreifenden Installationen zeigt, die sich mit Konzepten von Autorschaft sowie den Bedingungen von künstlerischer Produktion und Rezeption auseinandersetzen. Im Zentrum der Ausstellung steht das Projekt „Reconsidering Jack Torrance’s All Work and No Play“, in dem Scherübel – in der Rolle des Herausgebers – die vermeintlich gescheiterte Arbeit der Schriftstellerfigur J. These employ drama, comedy, science fiction and horror using visual styles of contemporary film and television. The artist puts economic exchange in relation to, among other things, processes of subjectivation, the status of physical bodies and affect in contemporary capitalism and the demands of work. At the heart of the exhibition is the project "Reconsidering Jack Torrance’s All Work and No Play", where Scherübel – in the role of editor – reproduces the supposedly failed work of the author figure J.
