Der in Wien lebende Künstler beschäftigt sich darin mit aktuellen Fragen von Performativität, und die dabei zur Verwendung kommenden Objekte und Hilfsmittel. Die Subjektivität seiner künstlerischen Ausgangslage erfahren dabei eine genauso so kritische Überprüfung wie das Publikum und der institutionelle Rahmen seiner Aufführungen. Die Brüche zwischen dem Unbestimmbaren der Performance und ihrer medialen Reproduktion sowie generell die Publikumserwartungen fordern ihn heraus. Während der traditionelle Werkgedanke in der zeitgenössischen Kunstproduktion meist mit der Idee einer schöpferischen Leistung verbunden ist, sind Kagers Arbeiten eher Ideen der Destruktion, Entwertung oder einer Neubewertung zuzuordnen. Seine Aktionen bzw. Each show in the series is accompanied by a fanzine. Now, the series continues in 2105 with “THE POWER OF SURPRISE”, a presentation of the artist Konrad Kager.<BR>"The practice of the artist Konrad Kager appears to be characterised by productive impetuosity and great scepticism. This indeed brings it much closer to a tenet held by the US artist Paul Thek, namely that it is the very duty of an artist to constantly dismiss art, rather than playing into the hands of the “to-do-list terrorism” of a global creative-entertainment bureaucracy that is increasingly perceived as dominant."
