Razzle Dazzle bedeutet einerseits Durcheinander, aber auch Täuschungsmanöver. Schuster bezieht sich in der Gestaltung der Radarkästen auf die Tarnanstriche britischer Kriegsschiffe im Ersten Weltkrieg: Vor Erfindung des Radars sollten komplexe geometrische Muster Größe, Richtung und Geschwindigkeit der Schiffe verhüllen. In Loipersdorf, so zeigen Bremsspuren, täuschte bunter Autolack nicht über die verdächtige Form der Objekte hinweg. Vielmehr enthüllt das hintergründige Spiel mit Radar, Form, Tarnung die künstlerische Herangehensweise. Sculpture in Reflection" <BR><BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;font-weight: bold;text-decoration:underline;" >Must have – new titles at Motto Graz</SPAN><SPAN STYLE= "font-family: '';font-size: 13px;" >: <BR>Inventory of Possible Narrations<BR>edited by Paul Hendrikse, published by Onomatopee<BR><BR>"Razzle Dazzle" by the Graz-based artist Michael Schuster was the winner in a public art competition and therefore subsequently erected in the streets of Loipersdorf, a town in Austria. “Razzle dazzle” can mean a confusing situation, but it can also mean a deceptive maneuver. Here, Schuster’s design for the radar detectors refers to the camouflage paint on British warships in World War I. Before the invention of radar, complex geometrical patterns were supposed to conceal the size, direction, and speed of the ships. In Loipersdorf skid marks testify to the fact that colorful automotive paint does not disguise the suspicious shape of the objects. Rather, the subtle interplay of radar, form, and camouflage reveals the artist’s approach—a sculptural effect that caused, among other things, public disturbances at the predetermined corner of Erzherzog-Johann-Allee and Burgring throughout the duration of the exhibition.</SPAN><br /><br /><img src="cid:Line.png@83078D81.4BE5.4BC8.8FA5.99696DC55D60">
