channels.mur.at - rechtzeitig zu Ferienbeginn nach
langer Zeit wieder mal ein Auszug aus den mittlerweile
ueber 400 Beitraegen zu Netzpolitik, Netzkunst,
Netzcommunities. channels.mur.at ist damit bereits
eine kleine Datenbank zur Netzgeschichte der letzten

   V2_/DEAF03: Open Territories

DEAF is an interdisciplinary biennale in the field of art,
technology and society. The festival presents, and reflects
on the current state of affairs in electronic art and serves
as a forum for critical debates that explores and develops
relationships between art disciplines and science.
DEAF features interactive installations, Internet projects,
websites, cd-roms and live performances, seminars,
workshops and an academic symposia -

   H.I.D.E. Human Identity Database Emulation
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The web-based art project H.I.D.E. addresses the current
issue surrounding the collection and storage of individual
biometric characteristics. The connection of this visual
information with relation to the use of person-based facts
and figures within the growing landscape of network
abstracts are creating comprehensive, and increasingly
concealed databanking systems. Via the live recording
and compilation of an individual's facial characteristics
within H.I.D.E., the art group AUTOMAT simulates
such biometric signatures, each recorded visitor receiving
an individual coding.

   ETAWARE
  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
ETAWARE is a system for the enacting of timebased archives
through: - Groupware: the free and open modular groupware
to edit and process audiostreams of online-media-archives -
Collaborative software: ETAWARE provides a collaborative
software plattform to access audio streaming archives, and
offers different modes for the collaborative editing of these
materials. - Modular toolkit: ETAWARE consists of a set of
tools/modules to access, (non destructive) edit, annotate,
share, communicate and perform audiostreams. The toolkit
offers online cartographies to collaborate on the individual
processed audiomaterials with other archive editors/users
and web based publication and invitation tools to create
project based communities.

   Freie Radios entwicklen Audiodatenbank im Netz
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Das neu entwickelte Cultural Broadcasting
Archive bietet die Möglichkeit Beiträge und Sendungen
zwischen den einzelnen Radios schnell und zuverlässig
auszutauschen. Die Sendungen werden als mp3 auf die
Website upgeloaded und können von Radiostation zur
Wiederausstrahlung oder von interessierten HörerInnen
downgeloaded werden.

"Big Brother" hat in Österreich bereits rund 160.000 "Augen" -
so viele Kameras zur Videoüberwachung im öffentlichen Bereich
sind nach jüngsten Schätzungen derzeit zwischen dem
Bodensee und dem Neusiedler See installiert. Und Nokia
bringt eine Überwachungskamera auf den Markt,
die ihre Bilder gleich per MMS verschickt .

   Wegen Ironie im Webforum vor Gericht

Wegen eines als sarkastisch gekennzeichneten,
"antiamerikanischen" Beitrages in einem Webforum
muss sich der Angeklagte vor Gericht verantworten.
Das die per anonymer eMail zugestellte Anzeige von der
Justiz ueberhaupt anerkannt wird, ist ein Skandal! Justizia
ist mal wieder auf dem rechten Auge blind.

  Big Brother in small packages

Could we be constantly tracked through our clothes, shoes or
even our cash in the future? I'm not talking about having a
microchip surgically implanted beneath your skin, which is what
Applied Digital Systems of Palm Beach, Fla., would like to do.
Nor am I talking about John Poindexter's creepy Total Information
Awareness spy-veillance system, which I wrote about last week.
Instead, in the future, we could be tracked because we'll be wearing,
eating and carrying objects that are carefully designed to do so.

   Google zensiert fuer Europa

Auf den Wunsch von "auslaendischen Regierungen"- namentlich
Deutschland und Frankreich- werden laut Bericht eines Havard
Studenten mehr als 110 Webseiten nicht mehr gefunden, wenn
Google fuer einen mit der "falschen" Nationalitaet sucht.
Erste Stimmen forden sogar schon, Google zu verstaatlichen.
